Recently, a competition for
very young kids was held in Zamboanga City and two (2) promising kid
Ipileños gave their hometown the glory when they grabbed the top place
in their respective fields.
Five (5) year-old, Ben Zuriel Galambao, son of Benonie and Dexter
Galambao, got the top spot in the Nursery Rhyme Recitation Contest
during the Regional Kindergarten Festival of Talents 2011 in the Private
School Category.
Galambao is a kindergarten pupil of the Ipil Alliance Christian School
from Purok Greenhills in Barangay Tirso Babiera in Ipil, Zamboanga
Sibugay.
Another Ipileño, Bea Magbanua, placed 2nd among many other participants
from the different parts of Region 09 after putting the audience in awe
and amazement with her golden voice in the Vocal Solo Contest.
Magbanua is also a pupil of the Ipil Alliance Christian School.
Galambao will represent Region 09 in the National Kindergarten Festival
of Talents which will be held early next year.
The contest is in compliance with Department of Education’s (DepEd)
ADVISORY No. 468, s. 2011 dated September 16, 2011 pursuant to DepED
Order No. 39, s. 2009. The event is dubbed as “NATIONAL KINDERGARTEN
FESTIVAL OF TALENTS” in support of the flagship program K to 12 of the
Department of Education (DepEd) and with a firm belief that Kindergarten
is an essential vehicle in the development of a strong foundation of
literacy.
Meanwhile, going global, two (2) young achievers from Zamboanga City
brought honor for the country after besting other contestants from the
four corners of the globe during the Wizards at International
Competition (WIZMIC) in Lucknow, India.
Grade six (6) pupil, Xavier Jefferson Ray Go, and high school freshman,
Gene Go, Jr., brought home their gold medals and contributed to let the
entire Philippine contingents place 2nd in the overall finish.
Truly, these young achievers brought pride and honor to their fellow
countrymen, a sign that Filipinos are globally competitive and are born
winners in their respective fields. Indeed, we are continuously making a
legacy that the whole world will surely recognize and appreciate.
They are spotted and let’s welcome them to the SPOTLIGHT. |
