Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay- The list is now out and the Provincial Office of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Zamboanga Sibugay confirmed that in the May 13, 2013 National and Local Elections, 6 congressional hopefuls filed their certificates of candidacy for the 1st and 2nd districts of the province.

In an official list released by COMELEC-Zamboanga Sibugay under Provincial Election Supervisor, Atty. Roy Prule M. Ediza, it will be a two-cornered fight in the congressional race in Sibugay’s 2nd District.

Political rivals, former Congresswoman, Dr. Dulce Ann K. Hofer of the Liberal Party (LP), and incumbent Congressman, Romeo ‘john john’ Jalosjos, Jr. of the Nacionalista Party (NP), will bid for the 2nd District Congressional seat with the latter seeking for reelection.

Ann Hofer, daughter of former Zamboanga Sibugay Governor, George T. Hofer, failed to get her father’s position when she ran for governor but lost to APP-NP bet, Rommel A. Jalosjos, during the 2010 elections.

The congressional hopeful now seeks to get her former seat in the congress under the LP with political ally, Liberal Party governatorial bet , Atty. Wilter Palma, with her.

Meanwhile, the present 2nd District Congressional Representative, ‘John John’ Jalosjos, son of former Congressman and now Zamboanga City’s candidate for the Mayoralty post, Romeo ‘Nonong’ Jalosjos, Sr., is seeking for reelection.

In the 1st District race, the COMELEC revealed a four-cornered fight with famous personalities on the line.

First is former Congresswoman, Atty, Belma A. Cabilao, mother of the incumbent 1st District Congressman, Jonathan C. Yambao. Cabilao is seeking for a seat in the congress under the Nacionalista Party.

Another is the son of LP’s bet for governor, Atty. Wilter Palma. Being a newcomer, Atty. Wilter ‘Sharky’ Palma II eyes to make it in the congress next year together with his father. Palma just passed the 2012 BAR Examinations.

Other 1st district congressional hopefuls are Sarah Karim (DPP) and Reynaldo Techechian under the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino.
