MUNICIPALITY OF SIAY
The developing town of Siay which is strategically stretched along the majestic Sibugay River of the Province of Zamboanga Sibugay was born on December 28, 1956 by virtue of Executive Order No. 223 issued by the late President Ramon Magsaysay.
Siay is mainly agricultural due to its proximity to Sibugay River. This opened vast opportunities for its people to engage in other fishing-related activities like bangus fry collection, prawns fry collection, seaweeds drying, and gathering of various seashells.
Paje (an alternative specie of tiger prawn), crabs, and bangus (milkfish), along with assorted dried marine products like danggit, osohos, and squid, among others, are sold in the markets of Zamboanga City & in cities and provinces nationwide.
Its calamansi production is gaining fame nationwide through the bottled calamansi which is also sold in markets nationwide.
When you visit the town of Siay, you will go home filled with the taste and aroma of its luscious and delightful smorgasbord of agricultural and marine-based table treats prepared by the hospitable people of Siay, leaving you wanting for more… and then more when you experience the festive celebrations of the Paje and Bangus Festivals that the people look forward to every year.
